Trustees Answer the Call to Action
The business executives who founded CED in 1942 and those who have followed since, rose above the interests of their companies or industries and focused instead on the public interest through a pragmatic business lens. Today, Trustees make this same commitment to bring the best of business thinking to bear on major public policy issues.
Trustees Take the Lead in Shaping Public Policy
CED is unique in that its Trustees are directly involved in setting our agenda, deliberating the issues, and developing policy recommendations for the public and private sectors. CED Trustees are top business and education leaders who provide their insights and experiences from the corporate world to help guide CED research studies and programmatic initiatives; inform business and academic leaders; speak before the media; partner with other groups; and advise public officials on CED recommendations.
Trustee Nomination Process
- A formal nomination process is followed to elect Trustees to CED's Board.
- Trustees are typically Chairmen, CEOs, or Presidents of companies; Former Chairmen and CEOs of companies; senior executives who report directly to their CEO and/or have impact on policy-stetting within their companies; and Presidents of universities or colleges.
- Candidates may express an interest in joining CED's Board themselves, or are nominated by another CED Trustee.
- The Membership & Nominating Committee of CED's Board reviews the candidates and must approve their nomination to be elected to the Board.
- CED's Executive Committee votes on candidates to be elected to the Board of Trustees.
