International Counterparts Conference 2007

The International Counterparts / CEDA International Climate Change Conference was held on November 15-16, 2007 in Sydney, Australia. It brought together leading experts from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia to analyze the rapidly evolving scientific and economic debate over climate change and explore cutting-edge options for policy response. For more information, view the Conference program.

About the Network

Close relationships exist between the Committee for Economic Development (CED) and independent, nonpolitical research organizations in other countries. Such counterpart groups are composed of business executives and scholars and have objectives similar to those of CED, which they pursue by similarly objective methods. CED cooperates with these organizations on research and study projects of common interest to the various countries concerned. This program has resulted in a number of joint policy statements involving such international matters as energy, East-West trade, assistance to developing countries, and the reduction of nontariff barriers to trade.

About CED

The Committee for Economic Development (CED) is an independent, nonpartisan organization of business and education leaders dedicated to policy research on the major economic and social issues of our time and the implementation of its recommendations by the public and private sectors. CED is:

  • Common ground for some of the best minds in business and academia -- from the United States and throughout the world.
  • An organization to which government, policy, and media leaders turn for reliable, nonpartisan policy guidance.
  • A catalyst for community action.
  • A respected business voice on national and international issues.
  • A resource for the business community's own policy-oriented activities.

CED is a Trustee-directed organization. CED's Trustees are chairmen, presidents, and senior executives of major American corporations and university presidents. Trustees alone set CED's research agenda, develop policy recommendations, and speak out for their adoption. Unique among U.S. business organizations, CED offers senior executives a nonpolitical forum for exploring critical long-term issues and making an impact on U.S. policy decisions.

CED is proud of its reputation as a group of business and education leaders committed to improving the growth and productivity of the U.S. economy, a freer global trading system, and greater opportunity for all Americans. CED's Trustees understand that business, government, and individuals are jointly responsible for our mutual security and prosperity.
