Higher Education
The rise of the Internet and the increasing digitization of information are creating myriad opportunities for institutions of higher education to refashion how teachers teach and students learn, how institutions create and disseminate knowledge, and how society changes. In an upcoming report, the Digital Connections Council (DCC) applies the lens of openness to the smaller number of select institutions of higher education, public and private, that support research as well teaching. The DCC also address the far more numerous smaller public and private four-year undergraduate institutions as well as community colleges and for-profit institutions. Even with this variety, the DCC believes there are benefits to be gained-and challenges to be faced-from embracing openness in to any institution engaged in research or teaching and learning.
