Círculo de Empresarios

The Círculo de Empresarios was set up twenty-seven years ago on the initiative of a group of leading entrepreneurs who shared the common aim of publicly defending the ideas of a free market and private enterprise within the framework of a free society. In its founding documents, the Círculo set itself the objective of "defending free enterprise, private initiative and the market economy" and undertook the task of "making public opinion aware of the role of business in a free and democratic society".

Inspired by these ideas, which are an essential part of the liberal tradition, the Círculo de Empresarios works with a long-term perspective, issuing and disseminating ideas and opinions and sponsoring debates and studies on topics of general interest as viewed from a business standpoint. The Círculo promotes dialogue with the different political and social institutions in pursuit of an improved understanding of the role of business in the creation of wealth and social well-being.

The Círculo de Empresarios is legally organized in the form of a nonprofit association of national scope composed of individuals holding senior executive positions in companies and sharing a common interest in, and concern for, the economic and social environment. The Círculo operates entirely independently of any interest groups and its activities are funded solely by its members' contributions.

Since its inception, the Círculo de Empresarios has made a very active contribution to the definition and continuous improvement of the model of a pluralistic, free, and modern society which has been adopted by Spain and, in a wide context, by the European Union.
