CED Addresses Need for
Scientifically Proficient Citizenry

On May 7th, 2003, CED released Learning for the Future: Changing the Culture of Math and Science Education to Ensure a Competitive Workforce. CED argues that improving the math and science skills of our nation's youth is an important step in ensuring and promoting innovation-led economic growth in the coming decades. As such, Learning for the Future calls for the implementation of a strategic plan that will increase student "demand" for and achievement in mathematics and science.

Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ), a member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, and one of the leading voices in Congress on education and science issues, was the keynote speaker at the Washington, D.C. luncheon event.
