Brazilian Business Champions for Early Childhood Investment

São Paulo, Brazil - CED, in partnership with Conselho Empresarial da América Latina (CEAL), LEGO Education, United Way Brasil, Instituto para o Desenvolvimento do Investimento Social (IDIS) and Todos Pela Educação co-hosted a conference on the importance of business engagement in early childhood development.

Drawing upon a broad range of expertise, participants made the economic and scientific cases for investing early and for engaging the business sector as a key partner. The conference kicked off with an intimate CEO breakfast followed by a day long series of sessions including "CEOs as Business Champions for Young Children", "Successful Early Childhood Development Partnerships in Brazil" and "What do the Sciences Say about Early Childhood Development?" The conference was capped off with a reception at which organizations displayed the extensive work being done around the country.

The event sought to encourage the public and private sectors to work together to strengthen Brazil's future by increasing investments in early care and education. The conference is the fourth in a series of events spearheaded by CED. Previous conference took place in The Hague, the Netherlands; Washington, D.C.; and Cape Town, South Africa.
