Forum on Debt-Reduction in Kansas City, MO

On November 17th, 2011 CED presented an update on the nation's fiscal crisis to approximately 60 members of the Kansas City Civic Council in Kansas City, Missouri. Speakers included CED Trustee Michael Chesser, CEO of Great Plains Energy, Stan Collender, Columnist at Roll Call and Partner at Qorvis, Mark Jorgenson, President of US Bank Kansas City, Joseph Minarik, Member of the Bipartisan Policy Center's Debt Reduction Task Force and Former Associate Director of Economic Policy at the Office of Management and Budget, Michael Petro, Executive Vice President of CED, and CED Trustee Landon Rowland, Chairman of Ever Glades Financial. A discussion followed the panel presentation. Members of the Civic Council expressed concern over the depth of the budget crisis and also about political deadlock in Washington. The Civic Council remains an active partner in engaging in national action on the debt crisis and many of the members have signed on to CED's "Six Standards" pledge.
