Tennessee Business Education Coalition

In March 2012, CED co-hosted, along with the Tennessee Business Education Coalition, a series of events promoting teacher effectiveness and human capital in education reform in Tennessee.

Margaret Spellings, former U.S. Secretary of Education, delivered keynote remarks at the annual legislative breakfast of the Tennessee Business Education Coalition (TBEC), a statewide coalition of chambers of commerce, companies and top business leaders committed to encouraging the Tennessee General Assembly to "stay the course" on the Volunteer State's nationally recognized education reforms.

The events featured Ellen Thornton, Executive Director, Tennessee Business Roundtable, Ralph Schulz, President & CEO of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Commissioner Kevin Huffman, Tennessee Department of Education, and Charles Kolb, Committee for Economic Development.

The events are made possible in part by the generous support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
