Leadership in Challenging Times: A Conversation with Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed Martin.

September 28, 2020

The combined crises facing the country – the global pandemic, the growing recession and civil unrest over social justice – create “tremendous uncertainty for our society,” said Marillyn Hewson, Executive Chairman of Lockheed Martin. She joined CED President Lori Murray for the “Leadership in Challenging Times” series, arguing that “what’s really important is that leaders, in government, in business, across society, academia, ... come forward with our perspectives and our ideas and to be optimistic.” Hewson, a 2020 Distinguished Performance Award winner, also discussed the lessons to be drawn from these crises, how challenging the threat environment was even before the pandemic and how these events have changed her leadership and how her company works.

The CED discussion series, Leadership in Challenging Times, interviews business leaders about the unprecedented challenges facing the nation and how they are helping chart a path forward for both their companies and communities in which they operate.
